Living with HIV: One Year Later

It's amazing how fast a year goes by.  Today my mind goes back to the day that I found out that I was HIV positive.  I'll never forget it.   It was the week after Thanksgiving 2012. I had been preparing myself and clearing my schedule to go for a routine HIV/AIDS test.  I also chose to get tested for other Sexual Transmitted Infections/Diseases as well. I had called a local department that offered free testing and got my appointment.    Previous results which was in June 2012 read negative, so I felt pretty confident that this test would be negative as well.  The test provider went through a quiz with me and also an educational session which is quite normal and apart of the testing center's routine when providing an HIV/AIDS test.     Then came the hurdle...The Test!!! I took the test via the OraQuick oral HIV test.  We waited for about twenty minutes.  The test provider came to me with a pleasant, yet concerned attitude. She stated, "Musique, your test came back p…

@Trav_WORDSMITH Let's Talk: World AIDS Day 2013

December 1, 2013 is World AIDS Day.  Trav, the Wordsmith, lends his voice to the prevention and awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  The message is very up lifting. Travis, warns us to protect ourselves and encourages us that we will make it.  Even if you're negative, get tested and protect yourself even more. If you're positive, seek treatment. Check out his video below,

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving y'all. Love ya Musique

Don't Take it Personal

As the picture with fitness guru Shaun Tsays"Don't Take It Personal."Sometimes in life we face those situations in which we can either slap someone in the face or smile and take in stride the critique that we receive from them. We can look at it as that person shaping us to be better.
  However, it depends on the critique's delivery or how they approach you. If they approach you in the wrong way some blows are gonna be thrown and some eyes are gonna be blackened. Even if a person starts drama with you, like Monica says in her hit "Don't Take it Personal."It's not that it reflects on you, but it actually reflects on them. When people want to trash your good name and you did nothing to them, that shows how immature they are.  Whenever that person or clique tries to start at you and go to your connects with mess, it means that you're doing something right. Use that drama as a stepping stone to prove that you are better, stronger, and wiser.  Don…

Love From Within

As I sit and write this post.  My mind goes to the struggles that I've had in life and the time in which I lived to please other people.  It was a damaging event that lasted almost 25 years, but as I've grown since my coming out in 2010, I've grown so much.
  As I've grown, I've stopped looking for validation in other people. I've learned to find the love from within. That love that tells me I'm wonderfully and fearfully made. This past weekend as I went to a birthday party and also went out with friends, I saw that I stand out, which is cool, but it didn't bother me as it has in the past. I actually like the fact that I'm not in certain circles.
  I noticed that my train of thought is much different than others in my age group. I have goals that I want to achieve. Granted, we all have room for improvement and that we are daily maturing.
 I encourage you to look in the mirror and tell yourself "I LOVE YOU!!!"  This is one of my many ma…
