The Wiz: I'm a Mean Ole Lion #TBT

Does anybody remember "The Wiz"  starring Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Ted Ross, Nipsey Russell, Lena Horne, Richard Pryor, Mabel King and many more?
  Well many of you may recognize that it was a broadway play featuring Stephanie Mills, Theresa Merritt, as well as Ted Ross in the original broadway cast. It was adapted for the screen by Quincy Jones, Ashford & Simpson, Joel Schumacher, and Luther Vandross from the Frank L. Baum story series "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."  This adaptation was unique in that it featured an all African American cast.
  I've had the pleasure of seeing this live in my youth with Peabo Bryson as "The Wiz," CeCe Peniston as "Glinda the Good," and Tasha Scott as "Dorothy." My favorite memory of the live show is Grace Jones as "Evilene."

Many of you know that I am a Broadway and musical junky. My life is musical. Quite Frankly, the soundtrack of my life would include all the Clark Sisters' Hits as a group and solo projects, as well as the "Rent" Soundtrack, "Sound of Music," "The Wizard of Oz," and it's remake "The Wiz."
"The Wiz" is a Black version of the MGM version and Frank Baum book "The Wizard of Oz." However "The Wiz," stays true to the story book as Dorothy had silver, glass slippers, not Ruby Slippers.  In the original stage play Stephanie Mills, award winning singer and songstress of "Something in the Way You Make Me Feel," played as Dorothy along with Ted Ross as the Lion. Willia Brown wrote this adaptation and Charlie Smalls was responsible for the music.  In 1974 Diana Ross, the Late Nipsey Russell, and the late Michael Jackson,and Ted Ross, starred in a motion picture production with Quincy Jones on the music.
