I am Dirty

Image
Hi, I'm Musique and I'm HIV positive. I always thought it would never happen to be, but I got that vision shattered in 2012.  Although I am HIV Positive, I am a happy, HEALTHY, ambitious person. I'm a musician, blogger, actor, youtube Personality.
However to some I am "Dirty."  I'm sure that many of you all have seen online dating profiles that says this "no positive dudes. Must be Clean. NO dirty booties. No tainted meat." The list could go on. Those are codes for telling people with HIV that they are not welcomed and that they are "unclean" in the eyes of the HIV Negative LGBT members. These terms are offensive and hurtful, but I refuse to let someone else's ignorance cause me harm or cause myself esteem to be low.
To those who feel like everyone who his HIV Positive is a whore I have something to say. There are those who contracted it from intravenous drug use (contaminated needles), born with it because their mother had HIV…

Living with HIV: One Year Later

It's amazing how fast a year goes by.  Today my mind goes back to the day that I found out that I was HIV positive.  I'll never forget it.   It was the week after Thanksgiving 2012. I had been preparing myself and clearing my schedule to go for a routine HIV/AIDS test.  I also chose to get tested for other Sexual Transmitted Infections/Diseases as well. I had called a local department that offered free testing and got my appointment.    Previous results which was in June 2012 read negative, so I felt pretty confident that this test would be negative as well.  The test provider went through a quiz with me and also an educational session which is quite normal and apart of the testing center's routine when providing an HIV/AIDS test.     Then came the hurdle...The Test!!! I took the test via the OraQuick oral HIV test.  We waited for about twenty minutes.  The test provider came to me with a pleasant, yet concerned attitude. She stated, "Musique, your test came back p…

@Trav_WORDSMITH Let's Talk: World AIDS Day 2013

December 1, 2013 is World AIDS Day.  Trav, the Wordsmith, lends his voice to the prevention and awareness of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  The message is very up lifting. Travis, warns us to protect ourselves and encourages us that we will make it.  Even if you're negative, get tested and protect yourself even more. If you're positive, seek treatment. Living with HIV: 8 Months Later

Many of you know what HIV is.  HIV is a lentivirus (slowly replicating retrovirus) that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), if not treated.  With recent advancements in technology and medicine, many people are living healthy lives and are productive citizens.  HIV does not discriminate nor does it have anyone's name attached to it. It can affect anyone.
November 29th, 2012 proved a pivotal point in my life as I was diagnosed with HIV.  That day was life changing for me. Granted I have dated those who have HIV and have friends who have HIV and I've even had those close to my heart die of AIDS related issues, but to have actually contracted it completely changed me.  I refuse to look at it as a negative event in my life.
I admit that I did not use wisdom during certain activities and also the person whom I contracted it from could've known and lied or they may not have known their status. Nevertheless it is in my life, but it doesn't have my life.

This has touched me greatly because it hits home.    In this interview, Lexi deals with the Black Church, The stigma with the Church and HIV, the Black Community and HIV, and the church's fear of teaching about HIV/AIDS.  Remember, God loves everyone. Me and HIV

Image
It's a Monday and as usual, this week has started off well.  I dare not complain.  Over the last couple weeks, I've been getting acclimated to my new living environment.  Things are much better than when I was living with dear old uncle. I've finally gotten the liberty that I needed.   I'm finally free to be who I am.  I admit that I have been slack because so much has gone on in the last few months. For starters, in November, I found out that I am HIV Positive. As many of you know HIV is the virus in which your immune system has been compromised. If not treated it could possibly lead to AIDS.   I went in for routine testing right after the Thanksgiving Holidays.  I will never forget that day.  The tester/counselor that I'll call Mrs. Lady and I were laughing and talking but we were serious when it came to the testing procedure.  Of course I went in for the Mouth Swab.  GO figures, I live in the Upstate of South Carolina, so you know it is some what primitive.

The Love of Pi

The love of Friends and Family is very important to me. Especially at this point and time in my life.  I've ran into a brief health crisis.  Since I've found out that I'm dealing with an illness, which I won't disclose at this moment, I thank God for a special blogger. He is Thaddeus "PiMusique" Works of the PIMUSIQUE EXPERIENCE.
Mr. PiMusique is a mentor and a great friend to me.  We may not get the opportunity to talk everyday, but his conversations and advice is very beneficial.  Throughout my waiting on results and readings. He was there and is there to encourage, make me think long and hard, and to correct me.  For that I am thankful.  Words really can't explain how I feel right now to have not only PiMusique, but some key people in my life that support me, even when my family decides to act dysfunctional.
I just want to say thank you to my mentor, Thaddeus aka PiMusique for everything,
Love ya,
Musique
