Big Mama and Me

Image
What is it about Grandma, or "Big Mama" as I call her? She has so much wisdom and so much love.  I love my grandma.  When I think of my grandma, I think of how for much of my life she practically raised me and took me to church.  I know that I have a praying grandmother.
Music is in my life because of my grandmother. I remember as a child listening to Inez Andrews, Albertina Walker, Mahalia Jackson, The Soul Stirrers, Troy Ramey, Rev. James Cleveland, The Barrett Sisters, Mildred Clark.  I guess you can say I have an old soul.  My grandmother made sure that I was active in the church choirs and she encouraged me in all I do.
My grandma is more than just my grandma; she's a mother, she's a teacher, a disciplinarian, a martyr, and a hero.  I love my grandmother. I love her home cooked meals, her stories of life.  I've even seen my grandmother shed a few tears, but the Queen is tough!!! I wouldn't have made it without God putting her in my life.  I love m…

RIP WHITNEY HOUSTON

Image
What can we say about this angel, better known as Whitney Houston? Whitney Houston is responsible for such hits as "I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "I Will Always Love You," (penned by Dolly Parton)  " The Greatest Love of All," and she set the mark in 1991 at SuperBowl XXV when she flat out sang "The Star Spangled Banner."
She set out acting in movies such as "The Bodyguard," "The Preacher's Wife," and "Waiting to Exhale." Whitney did some awesome music including the soundtrack for "The Prince of Egypt." Whitney Houston was working on a remake of the hit movie "Sparkle" at the the time of her death.
Whitney may have had her troubles in life, but she was on her way back. In 2010 Kim Burrell states that she believed in Whitney Houston  as she sang a tribute to her "I Believe in You and Me," on the BET Honors.
REST ON WHITNEY. WE SHALL MEET AGAIN!!!!

Happy Friday 13th

Image
HAPPY FRIDAY 13th!!!! Many of us are probably wearing rabbit feet, garlic, crosses, and doing other things to make sure that we don't have bad luck on today.  However, I'm not superstitious. Never have been. I just don't believe in luck.
Whenever Friday 13th comes around I think about the "Friday the 13th" series of movies that deal with the possessed, hate filled, seemingly unkillable, slasher Jason Voorhees.
Jason was a kid who had special needs who was killed during a camping outfit at Camp Crystal Lake. As a revenge his mother stalks and kills teens, but is decapitated by one of the stalked counselors and Jason sees it and therefore begins his bloody revenge. Anyway, I don't think I'll be watching this anytime soon. I've watched it too much along with the 200 remake.
Well again, Happy Bloody Friday 13th.
